It can be very welcome to seek support with regards to wellbeing/ issues being faced and a conversation can often support a person to make sense of what is being experienced. Often when a person constantly thinks about things without expressing it can become almost unbearable, at Sam’s Fife there will be support to consider a way of looking at any issues and support to explore ways of coping through the issues that is meaningful for the person.

Sam's is available across Fife.

Sam’s Fife peers are skilled at welcoming people who attend Sam’s Fife and strive to make people’s visit to Sam’s Fife as comfortable as possible. The approach is a relaxed, gentle invite to explore what is important to a person that day. The Sam’s Fife team listen with care, compassion and with an understanding learned through their own unique journey of mental health issues and recovery.

Sam’s Fife offers time and space for people to find compassion for what they may be facing or going through. Through a conversation of experience peer workers can support a person to consider approaches, strategies for wellbeing and progressing aspirations. There are also Sam’s Fife developed resources that support people to reflect on issues and consider strategies. For people experiencing suicidal thoughts there will be understanding at Sam’s Fife and a Sam’s Fife team member can support you on a one to one basis to develop a safe plan.

Sam’s Dunfermline is based within the awesome SAMH (the Scottish Action for Mental health) building very near to a local bus stop and also a railway station. The building itself is a traditional build and offers a fantastic garden area all around the building.

There is an accessible ramp to the rear of the building and a pathway to the front. Either of the access doors have a doorbell and a peer worker will meet a person at the door and welcome them into Sam’s Fife.

There are numerous spaces to have a conversation with a peer worker…within the front room there is an open space that has numerous seats and tables in it. Across the hall is a chilled out room that leads onto the kitchen. It is not likely that a person will have to wait for support however there is a waiting area that has Sam’s Fife magazines and leaflets to read. It is usual for background music to be on at Sam’s Fife. There is access to a hot drink.
